(This profile based on a conversation Katie and Lisa had with Ramon when they joined his ‘slow’ crew picking grapes one day.)

I’m standing next to the “glass house” in one of the vineyards I manage. It’s a rainy morning, and I’m talking to my partner, who is with a crew in another vineyard in a different part of the valley, about the rain patterns and whether I should call back my crew or let them go for the day. In the colder months it’s really bad to get wet from the rain when you’re harvesting grapes, because your body will get cold and you’ll strain your back.
What is the “Glass House”?
It’s a little structure on the very top of vineyard with a long wooden table inside. Guests come up there and watch the sunset and drink the wine made from the vineyard’s grapes. It’s really nice. It’s also a good place to take shelter when it starts raining!
