Diane bought a storefront on main street in Milton when she was quite young to be her painting studio and occasional home. Now a longtime professor at a nearby university, she is in Milton frequently. Diane hosted our Cloud Making workshop and Elder conversations as well as Jean Scott’s book signings in her beautiful home.
Hi Diane, tell us about your job.
I’m a professor of art at Averett University in Danville. I love my job. I get up every day, go to work and have a wonderful time. I teach pottery, sculpture, 3-D Design, and lecture in visual arts.
Is there something you dream of doing?
I’d love to cruise down the St. Lawrence river in Canada.
What is your advice for future generations?
Endeavor to do our best every day. Listen to others with compassion and kindness. Take good care of your own health.
What does the phrase “I am an American” mean to you?
It means I still understand the language and spirit of diversity. Freedom.
